FAQ

Is the WiSE MiNDS workshop suitable for my child?

WiSE MiNDS project workshops are designed to benefit all children. We aim to educate children with evidenced-based psychology strategies that promote and protect mental health. Our workshops are tailored to specific age groups to make sure your child takes away as much as possible from their one day learning experience. Our workshops are suitable for all children as a proactive, resilience building approach. Our values are about educating all children in proven cognitive strategies, with the hope that we can protect youth from becoming susceptible to the demands and stressors of modern day life.

How many people are in each workshop?

Numbers for each workshop are strictly limited to a maximum of 20. Often, there may fewer than this - especially in the mini-workshops. This is to allow each young person to feel comfortable in a small group of similarly aged-peers, and also for the workshop facilitator to have 1:1 time with each child, as needed.

My child is 8 nearly 9, which workshop should I book them into?

The ages cross over a little to give you a choice as a parent, as to where your child is most suited. As a guide, we recommend that if your child is in K - Yr 2, then book them into the mini workshop. If your child is in Years 3 - 6, then book them into the full-day. If your child is at the younger end of Year 3, and they may struggle with attention for a full day, then they would be suited to a mini workshop also.

Do you only run workshops in Orange?

Whilst all workshops are currently run in Orange NSW, we ideally want to service the entire Central West. If you think your town or school would like us to visit you, please GET IN TOUCH or send an email hello@wisemindsproject.com

What qualifications do the workshop facilitator(s) have?

Each workshop is currently run by Tanya Moscrop Cantelo, a local mother of two and highly experienced clinical psychologist. Tanya is registered with AHPRA and holds a current Working With Children Check. Oh, and did we mention she is also a qualified teacher!

How much do the WiSE MiNDS workshops cost?

Total cost for the teens and pre-teens workshop is $165 per person. This includes 4-hours of group delivered, psychology services plus take home resources. The shorter 'mini' workshop for 6-8 year olds is $99.

What time does your workshop start and finish?

Full day, School Holiday workshops typically run from 10am to 3pm. Weekend times may vary (usually our Saturday workshops run from 1pm - 5pm | Sundays 10:30am to 2:30pm.

Our 'mini workshops' are 3-hours and typically run 11am to 2pm.

Where do I drop off and pick up my child from?

Location of upcoming workshops TBC.

WiSE MiNDS project asks that each child < 12 years is signed in and out by a parent or carer.

What if my child is anxious about attending?

Let us know! The workshop facilitator is trained to work with anxious children and assist them to feel more comfortable. The best news is that your child will feel more confident by the end of the workshop, as specific anxiety management skills are taught at each workshop.

Does my child need to bring anything?

Just a packed lunch + fruit break + some water. Wear comfortable clothes and be ready for a great day!

Do you run any other workshops, specifically for children with anxiety or depression?

We are always looking to grow our services and meet the needs of community. If you think your child would benefit from another, more specific workshop, please GET IN TOUCH with us. In saying this, remember our core WiSE MiNDS workshops will absolutely benefit young people who are struggling with anxiety and/or mood disorders.
